TSC Project Update
February 2010

Artist Open House - Feb. 19th

TSC and Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities invite area artists to an open house on Friday, Feb. 19th from 4-6pm to see available studio space at the Third Street Center and learn about leasing arrangements.

With CCAH making the Third Street Center its new home, the Center will become a hub of artistic activity in Carbondale.

To learn more or to arrange separate tour contact
Colin by email or 963-5502.

The B+H Construction team is furiously working to meet our May opening date -- and the results are apparent daily.
cupola

New walls are framed, the entrance has a new foundation, the sprinkler systems can be seen in the rooms, and the cupola (a small, upside down "cup" encircled by windows) has been installed in the Round Room roof. The new feature has transformed the oldest part the building.

Some construction photos are posted on the TSC website, but the best way to see the project's progress is to arrange a tour. Contact Colin by email or 963-5502 to see the changes in person.

TSC Capital Campaign Taps Community Support

The Third Street Center mailed a year-end appeal letter to thousands of households in Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin counties, and members of those communities have responded generously!  Along with their gifts - some in honor or memory of beloved family members, friends and colleagues - donors have included the following words of support:

"Thank you for all the great work you do for the community."

"Good luck!"

"Thank you...for all the hard work to make the Third Street Center a reality."

"Keep up the good work.  I have loved Carbondale for 21 years."

These gifts and recent grants from the Anschutz Family Foundation, the Rotary Club of Carbondale and the Environment Foundation, have brought the Third Street Center to $1.28 million towards its $1.875 million capital campaign goal

Your help is still needed!  The Boettcher Foundation in Denver has invited the Third Street Center to submit a grant proposal once the Campaign has reached $1.4 million.  Gifts from community members, foundations and other sources can help us reach this important threshold.

Please consider making a gift to the Third Street Center on-line today.  Your support - in any amount - will be gratefully received and acknowledged.  We encourage you to learn more about the Campaign and our contributors...and to spread the word about this community-based project.

Thank you for your support!

TSC kitchen
With a visit from the state health inspector for the region, the TSC kitchen renovation is beginning to take shape.

The development team is testing equipment and ensuring the venting and plumbing will meet code for use as a catering / commissary kitchen. The kitchen will not be ready by opening day in May, but it is on a much shorter timeframe than we originally thought.

You can virtually tour the kitchen online or contact Colin Laird via email or 963-5502 to arrange a tour.
